Rates charged will vary from lawyer to lawyer but will be based on a fixed term or daily rate, agreed with the client and lawyer in advance. Factors affecting the rates payable will include, for example, level of qualification, specialist expertise, project management requirements and the time of year.
The client is benefiting from a resource of the highest calibre but without many of the fixed and variable costs associated with full-time employees. Payments will be made in accordance with written agreements between ItsMyLaw and our clients and will be governed by our terms and conditions from time to time in force. ItsMyLaw lawyers are exceptional, experienced practitioners who are highly motivated to maintain the best possible standards on their career history. The difference is that they have made a conscious decision to pursue their career outside of full-time employment.
To enable our clients to be reassured as to the suitability of lawyers to work with them we invite lawyers to complete a personal profiling test before their first meeting with our consultants. This ipsitive, forced choice behavioural test will give the lawyers and, therefore, you the clients a strong indication as to how any given individual will interact within your team.
To further enable us to make as seamless a match as possible, the programme we use also has an on-line client job specification which enables our clients to further define the characteristics and core competencies suited to a particular Partner, Senior Counsel or their team. The Law Society have indicated that where the lawyers are under the direct control and supervision of our clients, they would be covered by the terms of that client's own cover. We do of course advise clients to check their respective policies on this issue.
Where an issue does arise as to cover, we recommend to the lawyers that they seek to provide their own insurance and we are in a position to suggest organisations that can offer favourable rates. Dealing with potential conflicts lies at the heart of the ItsMyLaw service. We will assist you the screening procedure prior to each assignment. All lawyers will be required to inform us as soon as they become aware of any actual or potential conflict of interest. Once the position has been established to your satisfaction, ItsMyLaw will, where appropriate, terminate or postpone the relevant assignment and, of course, use our best endeavours to find a suitable replacement as soon as possible.
The agreement signed between ItsMyLaw and the lawyers we present to you requires them to adhere to strict confidentiality in respect of all information to which they have access. Our lawyers are responsible for their own CPD and will be required to show proof that this is being maintained in accordance with Law Society rules.
